Hi I’m Lauren. I am a designer currently working and learning in Chicago, Illinois. I am focused on making thoughtful objects and furniture for the adornment of a space or a person.
As an artist and designer, I like to think about the small performance one partakes in when interacting with their surroundings: slouching bored in a chair or admiring an outfit in the mirror. Like any prop master, I see the theatrical and symbolic potential in the objects we chose for our lives. Through my designs I strive to make these small performances as meaningful and enjoyable as possible, and to interrogate what an object could mean to us psychologically. I sincerely enjoy the process of building things, and I often use traditional materials (ceramic, wood) in experimental ways. Sometimes I find myself manipulating material for the sake of finding out what will happen.
